Africans are moving off the land and into the cities at an unprecedented rate. The prospect of finding jobs and economic opportunity draws people to towns, giving the continent the world’s highest urban growth rate, at 3.5% per year over the past two decades, according to the African Development Bank (ADB). By 2030, more than half of Africa’s population will live in towns and cities.
